Q: How many players do I need to make a team?

Chris,
The number of players you need in order to make a team is entirely up to you. Our rules state that you need 6 skaters and 1 goalie in order to play any league game.

A typical team is made up of 16 players, 15 skaters and 1 goalie this gives you 3 lines of forwards and defense men.

Now, there are teams that like to limit the roster because they want to have more ice time per player and go with 13 or 14 players. The downside to this is the fees will be more expensive per person and if you have a few people that decide not to show up to a game you may be short benched. When you have 16 players if you have 2-3 guys not showing up on average you still have enough to play with.

On the other hand there are teams that go with extended rosters and have 18-20 guys on the roster. This makes the fees per player less expensive and if you have 3-4 guys that don't show up you still have enough ice time for everyone. The downside in this situation is when it comes to playoffs and everyone shows up then you may have too many guys and not enough ice time. Of course each player needs to play a 1/3 of the season in order to qualify for playoffs, so this may not be an issue, it is a bit of a risk though.

We do not limit the size of the roster so you can carry as many or as little players as you like.

So as you can see, you get to make the decision on how many players you should go with.

Yes, the only gear that is optional is shoulder pads and cage/visor.

Q: My team needs a few more players, how do we get free agents from the league?

Your team GM needs to contact the league office with an official request. It is best to do that via email.

Our team is a little short on players, how can we go about getting individual sign-ups added to our team? If there are any left.

Does a team administrator have to submit this or can the individual player do it?

Yes the team GM needs to send us a list of names and amounts for the receipts for his players. The GM can include email addresses for these players so we can email them receipts after we issue them.
